Band
Currently North Monterey County Unified School District’s middle school offers courses for both 7th Grade Intermediate Band and 8th Grade Symphonic Band. Students who participate in their elementary school band programs are encouraged to continue their music education at the middle school level.
Band Director: Nathan Cohen
Nathan Cohen, a graduate from the Berklee College of Music and the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University has worked not only as a music educator and professional musician but has also worked as a music publicist in New York City. His client roster included the BB King Blues Club, Williamsburg Jazz Festival, and George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic. Throughout Nathan’s career in music education he has worked on both the East and West coasts as well as an international school in South America. Nathan has been honored with such awards as the VH1 Save the Music Excellence in Music Education Award, the New Jersey Governor’s Teacher Award as well as the Yale University Distinguished Music Educator Award.
